In A Sense, This Is What We're Doing

Came across this commercial on Otowi's blog:

I sometimes feel like this is what we're trying to do - build a 21st century education on the fly in a rapidly changing world . . .

  1. I just love that phrase, "In a Sense, This is what we do..." :)

  2. I would have to agree, that it does feel like this is what we are doing. I still can't get over how I feel that the world digitally changed over night (I guess by overnight I mean 5 years or so, but still). Most of our text books are used for 7 or more years and our curriculum lasts for at least 5 (usually). In this rapid changing world this may have to change a bit. Also where are the technology literacy standards/curriculum? Have we started planning these?

  4. Karl,

If you haven't seen them, the same company has two other ads - Running with the Squirrels and Herding Cats that are great visualizations of metaphors we often use. Worth looking for.

    All the best,

    Doug

  5. I loved that, and sent it on to our tech staff, because I'm quite sure they can relate!

But I like the idea that education should always be doing this--helping to construct the framework and adapting to changes mid-air.

Thanks for pointing the original post out as well!
