Scheduling Screencast

Several folks around the building have been asking about how computer scheduling for next year will work for incoming freshmen and sophomores. While there are a whole lot of issues (some of which may not get solved in time), I thought I would share with you guys a screencast that demonstrates the computer part of the process. Students (and parents) will receive a handout that steps them through the process, but it also includes a link to this screencast (it includes audio, so make sure your volume is on).

A lot of college professors are using similar screencasts as part of their courses – either for particular concepts or actually recording their entire lectures and making them available to students. The software I’m using is either buggy, or I just haven’t figured out how to use it very well yet, but it eventually got the job done. I also learned that next time I should write out a script ahead of time for the audio portion instead of just trying to wing it.
