Random Quotes

I ran across these two quotes within the last 12 hours or so and they both made me think of our project. I thought I'd share in case anybody had any comments.

Teaching kids is more important than teaching curriculum. Figuring out who and what our students are is our primary job. I was hired to figure out my students, develop relationships with them and find a way for them to be successful, to find a way to help them to learn. - Steven Simpson

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. - William Butler Yeats

  1. I like the Yeats quote. It took me 3/4 of the class period today to teach my kids how to blog and discuss the proper uses of blogging, and I didn't even get close to covering the curriculum that I planned to cover. BUT, the kids were excited about blogging (both on my page and on their own) and within 10 minutes of the end of class I already had a new post by a student in response to the question that I posed on my blog. How exciting!!!
