TEACHnow

This documentary will remind many of you of why you became a teacher.

In the next ten years America will need over two million new teachers. Who will they be? TEACH chronicles the determination and commitment of four young teachers as they fight the real fight: educating our children. Davis Guggenheim's award-winning documentary reveals the human side of the story: showing what it takes to survive the first year teaching in America's toughest schools. (35 min.)

You can stream it online or download it. For AHS teachers, I've downloaded it and put it in the AHS Staff folder (titled teach.mov) for access from school.

I find it interesting that it's being used as a recruitment tool to try to attract people to the teaching profession. If you have 35 minutes, I think it fairly accurately portrays both the frustration and the hope of teaching.
