I'd say it would look like an abnormal EKG, with spikes that didn't quite hit the halfway mark. (i.e. we all respond differently to varying tones and, by in large, most blog posts don't reach the masses)
Honestly, I was put off by the tone of the video, as well as that of Dan's blog post. Besides modeling behavior few teachers would tolerate in their own classrooms, I fail to see how it contributes constructively to a discussion on ways to improve teaching and learning. It felt more like an immature lashing-out against attempted innovation, which I truly don't believe is something Dan stands for. That is why it's so disappointing; the message is lost in the form.
Thanks Karl for reaffirming my feelings and beliefs about the standardization. What are we as educators thinking? I struggle as I sit and watch politics invade on local education control. Where are all of the leaders screaming that we are not doing this the right way!!!
I'm ignorant. What is WCYDWT?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, Karl, your buttons were pushed tonight. I hope this discussion is indeed amicable ... and, dare I say it, effective.
Nikkol: WCYDWT is an idea created/inspired by Dan and used by many.
ReplyDeleteGotcha... clever :)

Nikkol: Assume the blog post reaches the intended audience . . . mass or not.
ReplyDelete"intended audience" is a loaded term, but I think you can guess my general stance if you look at my Tweet to you and Dan tonight.
