Thought for the Day 4-24-06

A quickie from David Warlick:

a quote from John Gage, vice president and chief researcher of Sun Microsystems’s Science Office. He said,

We’re in a knowledge economy, and we’ve known about that for years. But for some odd reason, we take it for granted. That’s fundamentally flawed.

Other countries see education as an investment, but we see it as a cost!

As with other thought-for-the-days, I don't really have anything to add to this - I just wanted to share so we could all think about this.

  1. I totally agree that it seems that in the US education is definitely a cost. People are much more willing to spend 50-60 thousand dollars on a car than to pay any more taxes toward education, even though education will last that person more than 5-8 years.
