It's Not the Curriculum, Stupid!

Another quickie from David Warlick:
Stop talking about integrating technology into the curriculum, and start talking about integrating the curriculum into an information-driven, technology-rich, rapidly changing world.

To paraphrase a political slogan, "It's not the curriculum, stupid!" I believe we get so hung up on our curriculum that we lose sight of the big picture, and I think the above quote says it nicely. There's another quote that may be familiar to you (21c learners) that I also think is appropriate:
Not for school, but for life, we learn.

Hmm, we post that in the cafeteria and the student handbook, but do we really adhere to it?

  1. I don't think we get hung up on the curriculum, we get hung up on the textbook.

If it's in the book, gotta cover it. If it's been done forever, we still need to do the same old thing.
